Our team uniquely combines statisticians and clinician-researchers specialized in hematology and immunology. All conduct internationally recognized research, as evidenced by the quality of the team’s publications. Our biostatistical research could be described as “translational” between statistical models and the application of their results to patients. Our team is also heavily involved in the planning and management of clinical trials promoted by AP-HP or other bodies, and in the constitution and monitoring of cohorts or clinical trials, for example in adult acute leukemias (ALFA, GRAALL, THEMA) or childhood acute leukemias (CAALL), and immune deficiencies (DEFI).
Our research project is centered on improving responses to clinical and biological questions concerning patients with severe diseases requiring intensive or prolonged hospitalization and treatments. Our multidisciplinary team proposes biostatistical, clinical epidemiology, and public health approaches for clinical research conducted by team members or by the future center. The biostatistical axes of our research are (i) innovative designs for adaptive clinical trials, (ii) detailed modeling of cohort and real-world data, and (iii) integration of external data in evaluation.

Axis 1 – Bayesian inference
Our objectives are to propose innovative methods for conducting clinical trials by suggesting approaches that better incorporate current knowledge on the efficacy or toxicity of a new drug. For example, we evaluate innovative adaptive designs that allow the integration of multiple dimensions (using tolerance and efficacy outcomes, from the physician and the patient level) for the selection of an optimal dose level of advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMP).
Axis 2 – Causal inference
We develop valid causal inference approaches for the incorporation of non-interventional study data (either available at the individual patient level or only aggregated summary data) in the analysis of interventional trial data (such as single-arm-trial), accounting for the specificities of hematology data — notably the relatively small sample sizes, often imbalanced treatment groups, and the right-censored nature of endpoints.
Axis 3 – Prognostic and predictive models
Our objectives are to provide measures for evaluating the prognostic value of a new classification or prognostic markers, to study different strategies for the joint modeling of longitudinal and survival data (in the broad sense), particularly within the framework of multi-state models, with a special focus on assessing the surrogacy of intermediate outcome measures.
