Pre-Clinical Investigation Platform (PIPC)

Platform

Learn more about the platform

The main mission of the Pre-Clinical Investigation Platform is to meet the animal experimentation needs related to the scientific activity of the IRSL, in compliance with the applicable national and European regulations on the protection of animals used for scientific purposes (Directive 2010/63; Decree 2013-118). Particular attention is paid to animal welfare, through the establishment of an animal welfare structure and affiliation with an animal experimentation ethics committee.

The platform houses mice under controlled health conditions (SOPF – specific opportunistic pathogen free) and comprises two sectors: breeding and experimentation. This enables the housing and handling of transgenic mice (class 1 GMOs), including immunodeficient mouse lines for the establishment of xenografts.

The platform is notably equipped with small animal imaging systems: a bioluminescence/fluorescence imaging system and a two-photon microscope (with a gateway to the Technological Platform). These instruments allow better characterization of the pre-clinical models developed within the platform.

Use of the platform requires that a project authorization request has been submitted to the Ministry of Research, in agreement with the platform manager.
