New publication and a previously unknown role for the Smc5/6 complex!

Annia Carré-Simon and her colleagues have discovered a previously unknown role for the Smc5/6 complex, one of the chromosome maintenance complexes that has been conserved throughout evolution. Indeed, the binding of Smc5/6 to microtubules regulates chromatin dynamics and the organisation of the mitotic spindle, shedding new light on the maintenance of genomic stability at the pericentromeres.
